- Visit the UIDAI website: Go to the official UIDAI website at uidai.gov.in and select ‘Retrieve Lost or Forgotten EID/UID’ under the ‘My Aadhaar’ tab.
- Choose retrieval type: Decide whether you need to retrieve your Enrolment ID (EID) or Aadhaar number (UID).
- Enter required details: Fill in your full name, mobile number or email address, and complete the CAPTCHA verification.
- Send OTP: Click on ‘Send OTP’ to receive a one-time password on your registered mobile number or email.
- Verify OTP: Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number or email ID. Once verified, your Aadhaar number or Enrolment ID will be sent to your registered contact details.

Retrieve lost or forgotten Aadhaar UID/EID via mAadhaar App
Follow these steps to retrieve your lost UID/EID using the mAadhaar app:
- Login to mAadhaar App: Open the mAadhaar app and select the ‘Retrieve EID/UID’ option.
- Select retrieval type: Choose whether you need to retrieve your Aadhaar number (UID) or Enrolment Number (EID).
- Enter required details: Fill in your full name, mobile number or email ID, and the 4-digit captcha code. Click on the ‘Request OTP’ button.
- Verify OTP: Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number. Upon verification, your Aadhaar Number or Enrolment ID will be sent to your registered mobile number or email ID.
Note: If your mobile number or email ID is not registered with your Aadhaar Card, you will need to visit the nearest Permanent Enrolment Centre to retrieve your UID/EID.
Retrieving lost or forgotten Aadhaar UID/EID offline
To recover a lost or forgotten Aadhaar Unique Identification Number (UID) or Enrollment Identification Number (EID), follow these steps:
- Visit a permanent enrolment centre or Aadhaar Seva Kendra: Locate the nearest authorised centre in your area.
- Provide demographic and biometric information: Present your personal details and undergo biometric verification (fingerprint or iris scan).
- Verify and retrieve: Upon successful verification of your information in the UIDAI database, you will be able to obtain your Aadhaar UID/EID. Additionally, you can request a physical copy of your Aadhaar Card at the Aadhaar Seva Kendra for a nominal fee.
