Some time back, you applied for an Aadhaar card. But it still has not reached you. Do not worry, this is a common issue, particularly for those who applied during the initial enrolment days. If you have not yet got your Aadhaar card, here are a few ways to help you through the process:
- Check your Aadhaar status:
Before filing a complaint with the authorities, check your Aadhaar status online. It can take up to three months or 90 days for your Aadhaar card to arrive, so make sure you have waited at least that long. To check the status of your Aadhaar card, go to the UIDAI webpage. If the online status query indicates that your card is ready and has been dispatched, then the card is probably on its way to reach you. - Contact the helpline:
If the online status inquiry does not indicate that your Aadhaar card is ready, you may call the hotline number for assistance. You can reach the call centre at 1947 or send an email at help@uidai.gov.in. Also, use the UIDAI webpage to locate further contact information and seek assistance. - Get your e-Aadhaar card:
If you have not received your actual Aadhaar card, you can always obtain a soft copy of it from the UIDAI website. The e-Aadhaar card is equally legitimate as the physical card and is generally accepted. Get it from the UIDAI portal by providing your enrolment number and other information. Then, print the e-Aadhaar and laminate it to use it until the physical card is delivered. - Visit the enrolment centre:
Check if your Aadhaar card application is rejected. You usually get an SMS notification if that happens. If you prefer not to re-apply for an Aadhaar card online, you can do it in person at your nearest enrolment centre. To obtain an Aadhaar card, you must complete an application form, submit documents such as proof of identity and residence, and provide biometric data such as fingerprints and iris scans. Upon completion, you will receive an acknowledgement slip, which you must preserve for future reference.
