Ampere EV by Greaves, a part of Greaves Electric Mobility Private Limited (GEMPL), was founded in 2008 by Hemalatha Annamalai. The company was originally known as Ampere Vehicles and primarily catered to budget consumers with entry-level and affordable e-scooters. In 2019, Greaves Cotton completed the acquisition of Ampere Vehicles, after which the company was rebranded as Ampere EV by Greaves.

Following the acquisition, the company expanded its footprint to more than 200 cities across the country. It has also since established itself as one of the largest engineering companies in India, offering a diverse range of electric scooters. Ampere scooters are known for offering a remarkable riding range, clocking high speeds, and flaunting trendy designs. You will also find models catering to different consumer segments, from entry-level affordable models to top-end variants that are some of the most expensive e-scooters.

Ampere scooters offer several benefits, including pocket-friendly commutes, lower carbon emissions, and off-roading capabilities. The following are some of the top-selling Ampere scooters in the country.

Ampere Reo Li Plus

The most affordable Ampere scooter on the market, the Reo Li Plus caters to the budget segment and comes with decent specifications. It is available in one variant and four colour options and houses a 1.34 kWh battery pack. This battery is paired with a 250 W BLDC motor that offers a riding range of 70 km per charge, which is quite decent in the entry-level segment. You can also clock speeds up to 25 kmph while riding on city roads, while the e-scooter gets front and rear drum brakes to keep you safe.

Ampere Zeal EX

This mid-spec variant provides a few premium features while still being relatively affordable. The Ampere scooter flaunts an edgy design with angular cuts while also sporting chic decals. You also get an apron-mounted headlight with halogen indicators and taillight. Powering the two-wheeler is a 2.3 kWh battery pack paired with a hub motor with a peak power of 1.8 kW. You can completely charge this battery in around five hours using the 7.5A charger.

According to the company, you can clock a top speed of 55 kmph while riding this e-scooter. Furthermore, it offers an ARAI-certified riding range of 120 km on a single full charge, making it one of the best models in its price range. To ensure that your rides are enjoyable, the EV uses a telescopic front fork and dual rear shock absorbers to take care of the suspension duties. On the other hand, the braking tasks are handled by front and rear drum brakes.

Ampere Primus

The top-spec model from the company is the Ampere Primus, and the flagship Ampere scooter comes in a single variant and four colour options. Some of its design elements include conservative bodywork, a wide floorboard, an LED headlight, and a long single-piece seat. On the features front, it sports an LCD instrument console that houses a speedometer and shows a range of information, including distance to empty and mode selection. You also get Bluetooth connectivity with turn-by-turn navigation and a USB port for enhanced convenience.

Driving this EV is a first-in-segment mid-mounted motor that offers a nominal power of 3.4 kW and a peak power of 4 kW. This motor is connected to a 3 kWh LFP battery, delivering an ARAI-certified riding range of 107 km per full charge and a top speed of 77 kmph. Primus also offers three ride modes: Eco, City, and Power, as well as a reverse mode. Coming to its underpinnings, the e-scooter uses conventional front forks and twin rear shock absorbers for handling the suspension tasks. The braking duties are handled by front and rear drum brakes with CBS as standard fitment.

The Ampere scooter range also includes Magnus EX, Magnus Special, and the upcoming Ampere NXG. You can bring home any of these Ampere scooters without burning a hole in your pocket by applying for a Bajaj Finserv Two-wheeler Loan. With this two-wheeler loan, you can buy your dream two-wheeler and pay for it in nominal EMIs, thanks to minimal documentation, and flexible tenures.
